Dzogchen Beara is the long-term retreat centre for Rigpa internationally.  It is also the home of Dechen Shying Spiritual Care Centre and provides a perfect setting for spiritual care seminars and training. Dzogchen Beara is situated on the wild and beautiful Beara Peninsula in south-west Ireland, and sits high on cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean with breathtaking views of sea and sky. Many Tibetan masters, and almost everyone who visits, comment on the extraordinary qualities of Dzogchen Beara – its beautiful natural environment and atmosphere of profound peace which comes from deep spiritual practice. We welcome everyone, from all walks of life and of any faith or none.

Free Daily Practice Events – Open to All

 Guided Meditation

Daily from 9.00am – 9.45am

During these 45 minute classes a basic introduction to Buddhist meditation is offered, covering posture, breath and simple awareness. They offer an opportunity to learn a simple method of meditation that is at the same time powerful and profound. It can be practiced by anyone at all, and is extremely effective for bringing inner strength, peace, compassion and understanding into our lives.

Guided Meditations are held in the main Shrine Room at Dzogchen Beara Retreat Centre.

Loving Kindness – An Introduction and Guided Practice

Monday to Friday from 3pm – 4pm

These hour-long guided meditations offer a simple introduction to the practice of Loving Kindness. It is one of the timeless spiritual truths that we all have the potential to love fully and unconditionally. Over 2,500 years ago, the Buddha taught the meditation for cultivating Loving Kindness through which we can develop an increasingly deep, pervasive and unconditional love that completely transcends our normal limitations. We start with cultivating a more healthy and loving relationship with ourselves and then extend this feeling out into all our relationships and ultimately to all beings.

Loving Kindness Meditations are held in the meditation room of Dechen Shying Spiritual Care Centre (3 minutes walk from the Welcome Centre at Dzogchen Beara).

Occasionally classes may have to be cancelled due to retreats and other special events. If you are travelling especially to Dzogchen Beara to attend a class, we advise you to telephone beforehand to check.
